As an esthetician, one of the biggest issues I see standing in the way of skincare success is not using the proper products that meet our skin’s needs when it needs it. Our skin has different needs for various concerns, seasons, and of course, ages. Today, we’ll dive in by decade, from your 30s to your 60s and beyond, so you can find the right products to get your best skin at every age!
Skincare in Your 30s
This decade is all about protection and prevention. In our 30s, we can start to notice changes in how our skin looks and feels. The natural aging process that started slowly in our 20s can pop up in the form of fine lines because we are losing ~1% of our collagen yearly.
Additionally, we are losing a number of the ceramides in our skin’s protective lipid mix and the impact of sun exposure can lead to an uneven skin tone and skin discoloration.
Your recommended routine:
• Battling blemishes? Try exfoliating with our Refine it! 2% BHA liquid exfoliant 1-3x per week to help keep pores looking clear.
• Niacinamide helps balance excess oil and skin while supporting clear-looking skin — plus, it plays well with other products in your routine.
• If you aren’t already using antioxidants like Vitamin C in your daily routine, it’s time to start. Pair it with SPF during the day to help even the look of your skin tone, while revealing a brighter-looking complexion.
• Add Retinol at night. Start slowly to see how your skin reacts. Using a targeted retinoid serum just a few times a week can help to reveal a smoother-looking complexion and reduce the look of those fine lines. goPure uses a highly stable yet gentle ester form called Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, which works well even on sensitive skin.
Skincare in Your 40s
Consistency is queen during this decade! Elevate your routine with high-quality antioxidants during the day and potent, clinically studied active ingredients at night.
Years of sun exposure contribute to more dramatic skin concerns in the form of skin discoloration, fine lines, and deeper wrinkles. In our 40s, we are still losing ~1% of the collagen in our skin each year — and we are losing even more of the ceramides in our skin's protective moisture barrier. Not only is your face impacted, but you’ll also start to notice changes in the eye area, as well as on your neck and chest.
Your recommended routine:
• Elevate your exfoliant. Opt for a gentle, yet effective AHA & Enzyme treatment 1-3x per week. This can help to slough away dead skin for a smoother & brighter-looking complexion, like our Wake Up Radiant AHA Peel.
• Get serious about serums. Using more potent retinoid serum regularly at night can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin discoloration. Adding an advanced Hyaluronic Acid serum into your day & night routines give the skin a boost of hydration for a more plumped & supple look.
• Hyper focus on ingredients that further support the lipids in your moisture barrier, like peptides, fatty acids, and ceramides. This will elevate your routine and help your skin look and feel its best, such as our Anti-Wrinkle Mositurizer.
• Use products targeted to treat delicate, thinning areas like the eyes and neck.
Bonus Tip: Keep up your Vitamin C Serum and SPF for day! It’s always an important part of your routine.

Skincare in Your 50s
The average age for the onset of menopause in the U.S. is 51. Menopause causes major changes in our skin, including:
Significant collagen loss (30-40%)
Loss of subcutaneous fat
Loss of elasticity
Hormonally triggered changes in our oil production
Your recommended routine:
• Keep your cleansing and exfoliation routines gentle. Avoid things that may strip your skin’s oils and make the skin more dry. Stay away from ingredients like SLS in cleansers, alcohol in toners, using hot water in your cleansing routine, and over-exfoliating.
• Continuing with targeted skincare for your specific concerns will help you get the most out of your routine. For example, add in products specifically for the neck and eye areas if that is an area of concern. You can also try more targeted treatments for dark spots and skin discoloration.
• Hydration and moisture are key to combating the look of increased dryness, fine lines, and wrinkles. Targeted serums featuring Hyaluronic Acid and other humectants can help with hydration, and a go-to moisturizer with ceramides, richer emollients, and peptides may help support moisturization and the skin's moisture barrier. Bonus: Peptides may also improve the look of fine line and wrinkles.
Bonus Tip: Keep up your Retinol use. If you feel your skin becoming more dry with hormonal changes, try a retinol sandwich or apply your retinol products fewer night during the week. Make sure you top your retinol with a good moisturizer to keep the skin feeling soft and hydrated.

In our 60s and beyond, skin renewal and visible skin firmness are significantly impacted. Skin can look and feel thinner. The skin's ability to stay hydrated is reduced, and you may notice that skin tends to dry out and become rough. Blotchiness and more exaggerated skin discoloration may appear, so you’ll need a routine that nourishes, replenishes, and protects.
• Continue to support your skin with daily antioxidant use in a good Vitamin C serum.
• Don’t skip serums with Hyaluronic Acid and barrier supportive active ingredients, as they work to hydrate the appearance of skin. These will target the look of multiple skin concerns from lines and wrinkles to skin discoloration.
• Use key ingredients regularly! Understand that timelines can be longer for results in the appearance of more significant concerns, but you absolutely can get great results at any age with consistent use.
• It is also important to continue to moisturize your skin with a product that goes beyond the basics. goPure has a range of moisturizers for all skin types that feature powerful, nourishing ingredients that help leave skin feeling hydrated and looking more youthful.
At any age, it’s important to note that UV & sun exposure have been shown to cause skin damage in addition to natural aging. Be sure to use SPF every day, all year long as well as antioxidants to support your skincare journey at every age. No matter your decade, goPure is here to help make you feel confident and empowered in your own beautiful skin!

I love your cleanser and toner! I have seen wonderful results using the vitaminC, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C cream with a few drops of rosehip oil added. I added the Niacinamide Booster later and now love it day and night. I recently added the Advanced repair Eye Cream at night and again I am seeing great results. Can you tell?…I love all my GoPure products including the Argon oil, microdermabrasion and Enzyme Masque which I add to my routine about 2X a week.
