Why I don’t like (basic) Hyaluronic Acid products as an Esthetician

As an esthetician, I am always asked how to help people build a simple skincare routine that delivers real results. The first thing I do is make sure we remove unnecessary skincare products from the skincare routine and focus on products packed with clinically studied ingredients that offer multiple benefits.

Basic hyaluronic acid serums are a waste of space in your skincare routine… Don’t get me wrong, Hyaluronic Acid is a great ingredient. We have it in our skin naturally. It can hold up to 1000x its weight in water and it helps hold water onto the skin. This makes skin look more hydrated and plump and it supports skin elasticity.

So why don’t I like basic HA products?

Well, basic Hyaluronic Acid is a larger molecule that sits on the surface of the skin and plumps at that top level. That is going to offer a limited hydration benefit. Plus, a lot of your skincare might have Hyaluronic Acid in it already, and adding in another step that ONLY offers that one type of HA is complicating your routine without more results. Next, there are a lot of hyaluronic acid serums that feel sticky, they are complicated to layer with your other skincare or makeup, and they might even cause pilling on the skin. Finally, there are so many basic HA serums that don’t deliver long-lasting hydration or any other ingredients that benefit the skin long-term.

As an esthetician, I want you to use skincare that delivers meaningful results and helps you feel confident in your skin.

So what DO I recommend?

I am concerned. Are you saying to stop using the hydrate and Smooth. I just opened the bottle I ordered last and I am using the Hydrate and smooth and Dramatically Dewy. I love the Dramatically Dewy. Just confused if I need to be using both. The Hydrate and Smooth is a new bottle just opened. Thank you I look forward to your response
