The Importance of Skin Hydration (Routine Included)
Water is the body's primary chemical component and makes up about 50% - 70% of our body weight. Our body depends on water to survive; every cell, tissue, and organ needs water to function properly. This is no different for our skin. Our skin NEEDS water to function and to look and feel its best.
So how can we support our skin and keep it hydrated when we constantly lose water from our body and skin? Boosting hydration can take a well-rounded approach with the fluids we intake, targeted supplements, and our topical skincare routine. Checkout our National Hydration Day Celebration Replay here.

What's the difference between dry & dehydrated skin?
Dry skin is a skin type. It refers to a lack of oil in and on the skin.
Dehydrated skin is a temporary skin condition. It is a lack of water in the skin.
Dry skin can be more prone to dehydration, but ALL skin constantly loses water, and our skin’s lipid barrier works to lock in that water.
The upper layer of our skin has a Natural Moisture Factor (NMF), which works to keep our skin properly hydrated. It protects our skin from damage and helps support our cellular and barrier functions. It is almost like our skin’s own natural hydration-boosting serum, and it functions to support healthy cell processes.
Skin fact: When hydration is lost through the upper layer of the skin it is called Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL). Our NMF and the skin’s lipid barrier work to prevent TEWL.
Common Signs of Dehydrated Skin
Dehydrated skin can be dull & rough. The skin will loose plumpness and elasticity, which causes lines and wrinkles to be more visible. Redness, irritation, itchiness, blotchiness, flaky skin, and a darker under-eye area are all possible signs of dehydrated skin.

Improving Skin Hydration with Humectants
What is a humectant? These are skincare ingredients that bind to water and attempt to draw water onto or into the skin. They are barrier supportive; some can even exfoliate and draw water into the skin to improve the overall look and feel of skin hydration.
Common Humectants:
- Aloe
- Glycerin
- AHAs
- Hyaluronic Acid

Hydrating Skincare Routine for Dry Skin
goPure products are packed with humectants and can help support our Natural Moisture Factor (NMF) and Lipid Barrier in keeping the skin properly hydrated. Use this skincare routine when your skin needs a boost of hydration.
Step 1: Cleanse
Use warm water and our Vitamin C Cleanser to start your routine. It is important to
avoid cleansing with hot water and cleaners with SLS and other harsh surfactants; these can strip your skin of its natural oils and weaken the skin’s barrier.
Step 2: Exfoliate
Stick to gentle exfoliation with our Microdermabrasion Exfoliator. This will allow your other skincare products to absorb deeper, but do not over-exfoliate.
Step 3: Balance
Use our Hydrating Toner to maintain your skin’s pH and prepare it to get the most out of your skincare routine. It is packed with hydrating humectants and supportive lipids.
Step 4: Treat, Hydrate & Boost
Start with damp skin to get the most out of our hydration boosters. Our Hydrate & Smooth Serum adds to the multidimensional look of skin hydration with 3 different forms of hyaluronic acid that all penetrate the skin at different levels.
Follow with our 10% Niacinamide Booster which offers enhanced barrier support and lasting hydration.
Step 5: Moisturize
Locking in hydration to the face, eye area, neck, and hands will ensure the skin stays hydrated. Our Anti Wrinkle Moisturizer and Tighten & Lift Neck Cream are perfect moisturizers for this routine.
Step 6: Protect
Using Facial Oils to reinforce your skin barrier for even deeper moisturization is a luxurious addition to your PM routine.
Don’t forget to get enough sleep each night!
Step 7: Supplement
CeramaFirm works to boost the look of hydration, visibly improve skin’s elasticity and firmness, and improve the look of skin smoothness.
Take 2 capsules daily or as recommended by a healthcare professional. Be sure to eat a well-balanced diet, and drink your water.
