Head to Toe DIY Stay at Home Spa Day

April 01, 2020 | BY Jarah Burke

Don’t let quarantine get you down! Looks like many of us will be spending at least the next few weekends at home and indoors, so why not make the best of it?

Self care is a great way to beat the boring and get back to feeling like your beautiful self! Here is a great way to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy a 100% DIY spa day at home.

Step 1: Put on your comfiest sweats, pjs, or robe. Grab some fluffy socks and a refreshing beverage of your choice! (Hint: a glass of bubbly)

Step 2: Prepare your treatments

For the foot treatment pulse together in a blender ¼ cup rolled oats and ¼ cup brown sugar. Pour mixture into a small bowl and add in ¼ cup honey, 1Tbsp lemon juice, and 1Tbsp olive oil or coconut oil. This treatment is a great way to soften, exfoliate, and moisturize your feet! Divide the mixture into two gallon ziplock bags and set aside.

For the hand treatment put about 1Tbsp of coconut or olive oil into a small bowl. This is a simple and effective way to moisturize your hands and cuticles! Grab two clean towels and set aside with the foot treatment.

For the face mask grab a small bowl and mix 1Tbsp coffee grounds, (instant is also fine), 1Tbsp powder Turmeric, and 1Tbsp Greek Yogurt. This mask is great for skin as caffeine reduces the appearance of inflammation leaving your skin glowing and bright. Slice two thick, round pieces of cucumber and set them by themselves on a plate. Set the face mask aside as well.

For the hair mask mix together in a bowl 1tsp honey, one egg, and 1Tbsp apple cider vinegar. Keep in mind, you can double the recipe if you have extra long or thick hair. This mask is great for adding shine, nourishment, and moisture to your hair without weighing it down.

Step 3: Spa Time!

  1. Hop into a steamy shower or bath for a few minutes to relax your muscles and open your pores.

  2. Once your shower or bath is done, put your comfy clothes back on, refill your beverage or grab a cup of hot tea. Gather your beauty treatments close by!

  3. Start by applying the hair mask. It should sit on for 30-40 minutes before rinsing. To keep from dripping, put your hair up in a clip and put on a shower cap.

  4. Next, grab the face mask. Apply all over the face and under your eyes, let it sit for 20-30 minutes before removing it with a warm damp towel.

  5. Take a seat on the couch and use the foot mask by placing one foot in each of the bags. This mask should stay on your feet for about 10-20 minutes.

  6. Time for the hand treatment: Massage oil into hands and around your nail beds leaving on extra on to absorb into the skin as the treatment sits.

  7. Grab the cucumber slices and place over your eyes, wrap your hands in the clean towels. Leave these on for as long as you’d like while the other treatments work their magic.

That’s it! Once your treatments are done, wipe your feet and hands - please be careful not to slip. Remove the face mask with a warm, damp towel and rinse out the hair mask.

Repeat as often as needed, whenever you need a little me-time!

Remember, an empty tank will take you nowhere. Take time to refuel.
