Not many of us can relate to those with naturally long eyelashes. Those celebrities and in my case my best friend tend to give us lash envy even when they’re walking around fresh faced and makeup free. Whether it’s lash tinting, lash lifts, semi-permanent or my ‘go to’ favorite faux lashes, we can end up spending a large amount annually in order to fake it till we make it.
1.EAT YOUR WAY TO GREAT LASHES.
Just like when we’re trying to lose weight or get ourselves in healthier shape, we cut out processed food and bring in a rainbow of fruits and veggies. Cutting out gluten (I’ve felt amazing!), fast and processed food, refined sugar and even dairy can help in appearing to eliminate any inflammation in the body and lead you in the direction of clear skin and healthy hair including lashes.
When cooking opt for some of my favorites:
· AVOCADOS- Not only are avocados absolutely delicious,s they provide your hair and lashes with cell and collagen production, and blood flow to the hair follicles. (healthline.com)
· SWEET POTATOES- Sweet potatoes can be eaten any time of day and with so many recipes, you simply can’t get tired of them. Loaded with Vitamin A, it helps promote a healthy scalp but lash growth all thanks to that Beta Carotene. (Caltonnutrition.com)
· SALMON- Due to the fact our body doesn’t produce omega 3, it’s a great way to fill up with this healthy fat. Salmon is great for a person’s heart, improves the brain and controls weight all while helping grow lashes feeding the hair follicles.

2.TAKE YOUR VITAMINS.
Along with eating your way to healthier lashes you need to fill your body with added vitamins and nutrients that many of us are lacking in order to make those lashes grow. When you’re unhealthy your eyelashes grow at a slower rate and even smaller amount at a time. Adding the well known Biotin will help in appearing to promote healthy skin, nails and hair continuing to keep lashes healthy. These vitamins can be found in foods as well as the convenient supplement form to add extra nutrients to your already healthy diet.
3.CLEANSE YOUR EYELASHES.
I can’t believe I’m mentioning this but coming home exhausted I sometimes leave my mascara on rather than gently cleansing my lashes like I should (I know, I know!). To keep your lashes healthy and intact you must carefully remove any eye makeup nightly with a fragrance free product that will not only avoid eye irritation but those itchy eyes which cause rubbing. By carefully removing your eye makeup (heck, any time you cleanse your face) you are ridding your skin and lashes of free radicals, toxins and bacteria…it’s a must for achieving healthier skin and eyelashes.
4.APPLY ORGANIC OILS.
When talking about healthy skin, hair and nails, you hear about Vitamin E being used by skin care experts and enthusiasts alike. One fan of Vitamin E that raves on the benefits of using on your eyelashes is Make Up Artist and Beauty Guru, Michelle Phan. Michelle recommends her followers to carefully apply Vitamin E oil on lashes to appear longer and plumper. A little trick of the trade. (Bustle.com)
5.BRUSH YOUR LASHES.
Brushing your lashes is a great and simple way to help stimulate the follicles and promote hair growth. Every evening before bed gently remove all makeup so not only are you bare faced but also have clean lashes. Every morning and night gently comb your eyelashes with a clean mascara wand (You can pick one up from your local dollar store) running it carefully through from base to tip. Simply by brushing daily you will rid your lashes of dirt, debris and oil buildup as well as training your stray lashes to stay in place.
Creating those beautiful and attractive looking lashes won’t miraculously appear overnight. Taking care of your body with drinking plenty of fluids, eating nutritious vitamin packed foods, getting plenty of sleep and removing makeup when you get home all play a huge role in growing your lashes. These tips are simple ways to achieve the look you desire without having to purchase costly serums or prescription meds. Why are longer lashes good for those 40+? Aging tends to bring things down causing eyes to appear smaller and skin looking tired and dull. Longer looking lashes not only appear absolutely gorgeous but it’s a perfect way to enhance your natural beauty and wake tired eyes up. What are you waiting for?
