Do It Yourself Skincare - Body Scrubs

January 03, 2019 | BY Stephanie George

Who doesn’t love having absolutely, gorgeously smooth skin? I’ve spent so much money on various body scrubs that although they smelled amazing and I’d go to pay and my heart would drop every time seeing the reality that I was spending a whopping $35 for a large 2lbs of scrub. The more I would purchase these products especially when I desired new scents, I realized I could create by own body scrubs and customize them to my liking for nowhere near the price I had been paying. The best part of creating DIY scrubs is you’ll always know what ingredients are being used and those natural ingredients have minimal risk for allergic reactions. Whether you purchase mason jars or recycle sauce jars, have them ready because these make wonderful gifts especially with beautiful ribbons.

Try creating some of my favorite DIY body scrubs and get ready for deliciously smelling smooth skin!

First thing first you need a Base 80% Sugar to 20% Oil

o 1 cup white or brown sugar

o 1/4 cup olive or coconut oil (I personally love coconut oil and its delicious smell!)

Now comes the fun part…pick your favorite combination to create!

* 1 cup White Sugar

* ¼ cup Olive Oil

* 5 drops Peppermint Oil

* 4 drops Cucumber Oil

* 1 cup Brown Sugar

* ¼ cup Olive Oil

* 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

* 1 tsp Honey

* 1 cup Brown Sugar

* ½ cup Coconut Oil

* ½ cup Coffee Grounds (enjoy your coffee first, then use the old coffee grounds)

* 2 tsp Vanilla Extract

* 1 cup White Sugar

* ¼ cup Coconut Oil

* 1 tsp Coconut Extract

* 2 tsp Vanilla Extract

* ½ cup solid Coconut Oil

* 1 cup White Sugar

* ½ tsp Peppermint Essential Oil

* 1 Lime zested

Whip the coconut oil with a hand mixer then add the remaining ingredients. Blend 1-2 minutes.

If you are just looking for a basic, effective coffee scrub all you simply need is:

2 parts of melted coconut oil to 1 part coffee grounds (used ones from your morning coffee)

Next, place in the refrigerator for approximately 10 minutes to solidify the coconut oil.

Finally use a hand mixer to whip the ingredients together for a beautiful consistency.

* Coffee grounds are not the most drain friendly so use minimal amounts at a time while warm/hot water is running to drain smoothly.

What a great gift idea! When looking for a small gift to give your neighbor, Esthetician or whomever this is a very simple and very liked idea. To make the gift even more gorgeous, try placing these body scrubs into a jar and tie with beautiful twine, flowers or ribbon. Add this with some other small beauty products including an exfoliating glove, a dry brush or essential oils and place in a DIY gift basket. Simple, Easy and Beautiful!

There are so many benefits of exfoliating your skin 3 to 4 times weekly. You will rid your body of dead skin cells that linger, your skin’s appearance of cellulite is minimized as your skin is left appearing toner, brighter and younger. These scrubs with those nontoxic ingredients are easy, deliciously smelling DIY body scrubs with the most difficult thing being the self control not to consume them! Although these are natural ingredients, the essential oils will definitely ruin the taste for you, so just enjoy the delicious scent and the gorgeous skin you’ll be left with and enjoy!
